Abstract
Broadband echosounders are used by the plankton and fisheries acoustics community to assess distribution, abundance and behaviour of fish and larger zooplankton. Multiple calibrated echosounders can be combined to measure acoustic backscatter across a wide frequency range. This publication presents several example datasets that showcase the diverse applications of broadband echosounders from different platforms like ships, net-pens and towed bodies. These datasets include acoustic targets such as fish, both with and without swim bladders, larger zooplankton, and calibration spheres. Each dataset consists of files from the Kongsberg Discovery EK80 system and includes associated metadata and calibration information. The datasets offer details regarding the objectives of the experiments, provide ground truth information when available, and outline the platform and configuration of data collection and transducers. This collection serves as a resource for testing, developing, and demonstrating data processing methods for broadband acoustic data.
